1st Drink of the Day

Back when I was training for competitions, I'd wake up between 3:30 - 4am, head to the kitchen for a black coffee, get my gym gear on and have a pre workout on the way to the gym. At the time, this combo gave me the energy and resilience to get the most out of my workout each day. I know now that this is one of many reasons why I have gut issues.

As part of my gut healing protocol, I replaced coffee first thing with what I call my ACV drink. I have this first thing before anything else. Here's what it's done for me:

  • Gently 'wakes' me up 
  • I feel refreshed and hydrated afterwards
  • Moves along my daily loo visit so that it's out of the way :) 
  • I train in the morning, so this gives me the energy boost I need + I don't feel thirsty during the workout like I used to
  • It's a cute ritual I have with my fiance each morning - whoever gets up first makes the drink and we drink it together alongside a little chat before we get on with the day

I've found that by having this first before everything else, it feels like a good foundation for the day ahead - coffee is toxic, acidic and it just doesn't feel right to me to have that first thing before you eat or drink anything nutritious. There's no science behind this, just my feeling once I started drinking it. I encourage you to do the same and let me know what you think!



AVC drink

1/2 Lemon (or Lime) juice

1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar (recommend Braggs, as it's organic and not as watered down like the others). 

1 tsp unrefined salt (eg. himalayan pink salt, celtic sea salt. Not saxa or anything refined). 

1 glass of filtered water
